Postings

After going through this week’s readings, address the following in a single post on the channel #wk3-criteria

  • How do you view the relationship between indicators and criteria?

  • What general steps would/do you take to assess criteria for an existing program you have been tasked to evaluate?

Doing

Create an Evaluation Team

Finalize your evaluation teams consisting of three to four members. Then talk among yourselves to figure out three possible weekly meetings times/days that you can get together to discuss materials about the course and the eventual evaluation. To begin, I will join you on a biweekly basis to discuss items and to answer any questions you may have. If the team appears to be on track as we progress, I will reduce my participation unless needed. Please send me team information by

Look through the CDC’s Types of Evaluations document to get yourself familiarized with various approaches to conducting evaluations. It is important to note that summative evaluations are not listed.

Review a Slideshow

We’ll be covering three primary concepts in evaluation: criteria, standards and indicators all within the scope of criteria. While all three are extremely important, the trait that can have the greatest impact on the planning of an evaluation is in constructing the proper criteria. With that in mind, please view and listen to What the Hell is Program Evaluation? For information on how to traverse the slideshow, hover over the icons below.
